In this multi-part screencast tutorial series, I'll show you how to make a game inspired by the Hudson Soft classic, Bomberman. In this part, we'll give the player the ability to lay bombs (which explode, destroying blocks of the terrain), and hide power-ups around the level to improve Bombing Chap's abilities.

Now we're getting somewhere: with a terrain, a player, and the all-important exploding bombs, we've got the start of a real game here. In the next part of this series, we'll add enemies with AI pathfinding, so there's some actual challenge for the player. Watch it on Gamedevtuts+ or on Tuts+ Hub.
